Highlighting Hampshire
Southampton Science Park was delighted to host Hampshire Ambassadors on Wednesday 23rd March, as part of The Hampshire story initiative, a forward-looking view of what the county will be as a place, its distinctiveness and ambition.
The Hampshire Story Ambassadors programme is a county-wide network of businesses, organisations and individuals who come together to hear about the successes and developments that are shaping Hampshire so they can proactively raise its profile.
And there’s much to be proud of. Hampshire is a glorious piece of England, a place of cricket and Cowes, Jane Austen and the Royal Navy, vineyards, and villages. An economic powerhouse in its own right, it’s a place where technology and innovation abound in aerospace, defence, marine, artificial intelligence with the biggest brands and keenest minds. With three cities, two major ports, two National Parks and four universities, Hampshire attracts, nurtures and grows amazing talent in our businesses, universities and visitor economy.
Jane Holt, Business Development Director at the Science Park, was a guest speaker at the event, along with Professor Mark Smith, Vice President, University of Southampton, and Nigel Clarke, Chief Executive at Morgan Innovation & Technology.
Jane commented: “This was a fantastic event organised by Hampshire County Council. The diverse range of people in the room were bound together by their passion for raising the profile of Hampshire and attracting business. I was struck by the highly collaborative spirit in the room, with everyone working as one.”
“We have an amazing story to tell and a lot to be proud of, but we all need to talk the place up, celebrate our successes; together we need to act as ambassadors for Hampshire and get our story out there. Collaboration has never been more important than now as we move forward from the pandemic and work together to help grow the economy. Together we can show the confidence we have in our future and play a part in making that happen.”
Hampshire County Council wants to hear from more enthusiastic advocates for the county who want to see it thrive. Whether you are an individual, a big business or a small one, your energy, ideas and connections can influence how Hampshire is portrayed and help put it firmly on the national and international map. The collective ‘clout’ of our Ambassadors is huge and can make a real difference in attracting investment, businesses, visitors, and talent to the county and ensuring that our voice is heard where it matters.
