Setting The Sustainability Agenda
Leader in life sciences, Promega, has set its most ambitious sustainability targets in its 40- year history, with the publication of its 2021 Corporate Responsibility Report.
The company’s next generation targets, against a 2019 baseline, include: a 50% reduction in emissions, a 30% reduction in landfill waste and a 30% reduction in water use. These targets follow news that the company surpassed all its 2020 environmental goals, including a 44% carbon emission reduction indexed to a 2015 baseline.
Southampton Science Park is proud to have been home to Promega in the UK since 1989. Following rapid growth and a doubling of revenues, the company expanded its operations here with the construction of a bespoke 18,000 sq ft facility to accommodate 50 staff and to provide enhanced space for laboratory work and training. The Corporate Responsibility Report applauds its UK office for eliminating single-use plastics.
Promega has integrated corporate responsibility and sustainable business practices since its founding in 1978. “To achieve these critical long-term goals, we identify actions for the present and also identify pathways for the future,” said Corey Meek, Corporate Responsibility Program manager, Promega Corporation. “Focused efforts, employee-driven initiatives and best practices from around the world help us transform abstract goals into action and outcomes.”
