Advancing Solar Power
Absolar has been named a winner in the 2021 British Data Awards, scooping the prize for PropTech of the Year and beating off competing entrants which this year included FTSE 100 giants, tech unicorns, public sector bodies and not-for-profit organisations.
The innovative start-up has also been shortlisted for two further awards: New Business of the Year and Small Business of the Year at the 2021 Test Valley Business Awards.
Absolar first came to the Science Park after winning a place on the Catalyst business accelerator programme and the team has now taken residence in the Innovation Centre. Its AI-driven approach enables households and businesses to evaluate the feasibility of renewable solar power faster and more accurately than has been possible before. For example, a recent project in Portsmouth allowed every resident to assess their solar opportunity for free.
The company recently welcomed three interns to the team. In celebration of the ‘positive energy and wonderful ideas’ they contributed, they planted a tree at the Science Park to offset the carbon emissions associated with their employment.
