Let the Festivities Commence!
If the mountains of mince pies and shiny seasonal TV ads are getting you in the mood for a little down-time, you’ll be pleased to know that we have various opportunities to get together with your community, both in and around the Science Park, over the next six weeks.
Here’s how to get involved.
Until 6th December: Southampton City Council's Toy Appeal
We are delighted to be supporting this wonderful initiative once more, and our giving tree is dripping with tags ready for your generous gift donations. All you need to do is drop by the Science Park office (in the Innovation Centre, Venture Road), select a tag, buy a suitable gift for the named recipient and pop it back to us, unwrapped but in a gift bag please, by Friday 6th December. This will ensure that your gift winds its way via the North Pole to a vulnerable child in the Southampton area in time for the big day. Can we beat last year’s phenomenal total of 250 gifts?
Wednesday 4th December: Community Festive Market
Wednesday lunchtimes don’t have to be dull! Pop along to the Axis Conference Centre (Venture Road) between 11.30 and 2.30 on Wednesday 4th December and add a little magic and sparkle to your lunchtime. We’ve arranged for there to be warming food and drink treats, and an array of unique gifts, courtesy of local vendors who will be thrilled to see you there.
Thursday 12th December: Christmas Jumper Day
The Science Park is joining millions of people to raise money for Save the Children this Christmas Jumper Day. In the UK and around the world, Save the Children works to make sure that children stay safe, healthy and keep learning, so they can reach their full potential. Take part simply by wearing your silliest seasonal jumper and making a donation. We’ve made this bit easy - simply go to our JustGiving page – but the wardrobe choice is down to you.
Thursday 12th December: Science Park Christmas Party
Then throw off your jumper and step into something a little more party-ready in time for the Science Park’s annual Christmas party. Sorry - this one is for Park resident employees only and must be pre-booked. We’ve arranged it all so you don’t have too. It all starts with drinks at 6.30 at Chilworth Manor Hotel. Don’t be late! Let the fun commence…
Thursday 19th December: Chilworth Community Carols
Join the Revd Vanessa Lawrence and her welcoming team at St Denys, Chilworth from 7.30pm for an uplifting community carols evening complete with mulled wine and mince pies. You might also like to check out the free to attend monthly music recitals and other events that are held to promote friendship and support networks at this beautiful Victorian church, just a few minutes’ walk from the Science Park.
