Awarding Stand-out Technologies
Southampton Science Park was delighted to present two category awards at the 2024 South Coast Tech & Innovation Awards. The gala dinner event was compered by TV personality, comedian and podcaster Cally Beaton at the Hilton Southampton Utilita Bowl on 3rd October.
Robin Chave, CEO, presented the award for Tech Start Up of the Year to Labl.it.
He noted that the judges “chose a company they felt exemplified the true spirit of a start-up; a company which identified a real world problem and addressed it with an innovative solution, and which has shown consistent success in attracting new business, demonstrating that their product is not only viable but also impactful.”
The four other finalists in this category - AugmentAero, GoBig Online t/a Gotalk.ai, Universal Collaboration Research and Wren Games – were also celebrated.
Lucinda Lamont, Business Development Director, presented Universal Collaboration Research with the award for Sustainable Tech Company of the Year.
She said that the judges “had a clear winner in this category; one that truly stood out with a solution that significantly reduces power consumption. This winner’s innovation goes beyond the expected, embodying the true essence of what this award represents: impactful, forward–thinking technology that drives sustainability.”
Novatech, Silver Lining Convergence, Sumillion and Zenergi completed the line-up of finalists in this category.
Southampton Science Park resident companies were clearly ‘the cream of the region’s tech sector’ at this years’ awards with a total of nine commendations.
Lifelight scooped the award for Science and Tech Company of the Year. Its founder and CEO, Laurence Pearce​, said, “This is a pivotal time for us as we transition from running studies and getting validation for our technology that measures blood pressure pulse and breathing rate. We are closing a significant funding round and turning the corner from development into growth. We have some really exciting commercial partnerships that we’ll be announcing in the next year, enabling us to really scale up our technology internationally.”
