Cooking up a Treat
Southampton Science Park’s charity Bake-offs just keep getting better! Following the success of the first such event in July, a second was held on 17th November.
On this occasion, Star Baker was awarded to Hayley, a member of the Fusion team, who won afternoon tea for two at Kimbridge Barn for her outstanding efforts.
Jane Munns, who organised the event on the day, said: “This time, we doubled the number of bakes submitted and the quality was absolutely phenomenal! Everyone seemed to really enjoy this fun and worthwhile event which raised over £300 for our charity of the year, Jane Scarth House. In fact, several people are already asking when the next one will be!”
Enthusiastic bakers and devourers of all things naughty-but-nice won’t need to wait too long, as another Bake-off is planned for the Spring.
In the meantime, the Science Park would like to thank all those who kindly donated a cake or came along to purchase a slice or two in aid of a very worthy cause, as well as the team at Kimbridge Barn for kindly donating a fantastic prize.
Jane Scarth House is an independent charity providing emotional and practical assistance to anyone whose life is affected by cancer. The charity’s team is well regarded amongst medical professionals and receives referrals from hospitals and nursing teams in Southampton, Winchester, Basingstoke and Salisbury. They have assisted thousands of local people and their families throughout their cancer journey from diagnosis, throughout treatment and beyond. Yet, they receive no government funding, instead relying heavily on donations to deliver this vital support to our local community.
