Commending a Remarkable Start-up
The Worshipful the Mayor of Test Valley, Councillor Mark Cooper visited Absolar Solutions on 29th November on the back of the company recently scooping two out of the seven Test Valley Business Awards this year. It was named both Small Business of the Year and New Business of the Year at the prestigious regional awards, and it previously received the British Data Award for PropTech of the Year 2021.
Absolar uses AI and GIS technologies to enable organisations and households to evaluate feasibility and to access renewable energy systems. The company was founded in 2020 and arrived at Southampton Science Park the same year to participate in the Catalyst business accelerator programme. It is now collaborating with several local authorities across the region to advance the take-up of sustainable alternative energies and is primed for significant commercial success.
Reflecting on what he saw during his visit, The Mayor said: “Absolar is a remarkable start-up doing very well; wonderful ideas and absolutely fit for the times that we’re in. I think the fact that they are giving information to people without directly charging for it is remarkable. We need to have ideas as well as scientists for our future. It’s brilliant and I’m most impressed.”
Absolar Director, Nic Cory, added: “We are a diverse team brought together by a mission to reduce emissions and fuel poverty across homes and businesses using the very best technology. We are honoured to have received two awards in the Test Valley Business Awards, which drive us further to succeed in our mission.”
