James has a Natural Sciences degree from Cambridge and an MBA from INSEAD. He is currently managing the liquidation of a $50m cash shell for Venda Group and is a Non-Executive Director at Apollo VCT. He also assists science-based start-ups by helping them to develop business models and to secure investment.

James is a senior experienced international manager with a varied career in bioscience companies – both large corporations, including Zeneca Agrochemicals, and start-ups. He has led several turnarounds of established and fledgling technology businesses in sectors that include sound and vibration, veterinary imaging and health IT as well as a small, specialist bioscience investment fund, Hygea VCT.  Earlier in his career he managed aid projects in Nepal and Africa.

At a recent Catalyst launch presentation James said : “My specialities are business models, sales and finance. Drawing on my broad, practical, operational experience as well my experience as a Director and an investor, I am passionate about the importance of having a valid, scalable business model and an appropriate finance structure to underpin success.”
