Adhesion Technologies embraces E-commerce
10 September 2017
Spida Fixings, developed at Southampton Science Park by engineering and design company Adhesion Technologies, has launched an e-commerce website to support growing interest in its innovative new technology.
The company’s new e-commerce website, www.spidafixings.com, opens up the potential for this technology to be used worldwide by original equipment manufacturers and tier 1 or 2 industrial purchasers, B2B or B2C trade stockists and individual consumers. It features over 50,000 product combinations with a choice of fixing sizes and metal material options, as well as passivation, heat treatment, plating and surface finishes which can be specified as needed.
Launched just last year, Spida Fixings has proven to offer designers of concrete, metal, timber, glass fibre and carbon fibre composite components over 50% better adhesion performance with less weight and increased mechanical performance capabilities and stress limits. With smaller and fewer fastenings required too, customers are also realising cost savings.
This technology is the result of more than five years of research and development. It is suitable for both new product designs and for retrofitting during repairs and maintenance of composite, plastic and metal structural components. For engineers, this patented design and technology eliminates the need for drilling bolt and rivet holes which can compromise structural integrity.
Adhesion Technologies has secured grants from the National Aerospace Technology Exploitation Programme (NATEP), with support from the Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) and the SETsquared partnership.
