i2O Water solutions head to China in Major Deal
10 September 2017
Science Park based i2O Water has signed an agreement with GDH Water in China to supply loggers and collaborate to make its technology available to the wider Chinese market. The company provides smart network solutions for water utilities. Business benefits include 20-40% reductions in leakage, bursts, operational costs and energy bills.
CEO Joel Hagan said: “China is a huge market. It faces the same challenges as other parts of the world in water supply and distribution but is unique in the growth rate of its population and cities.”
He continued: “We are proud to have GDH Water as a partner. It is a rapidly expanding and ambitious group that is committed to smart solutions to deliver a reliable and cost effective supply of safe drinking water. It has clear social responsibility and profit motives and we look forward to working with them.”
GDH is China’s second largest water treatment group, comprising 28 companies and serving a population of 38 million people in four provinces. Qifeng Tan, Director and General Manager for the company, commented: “i2O is a company that we have watched with interest over the last few years. During that time we have evaluated a number of local and international companies supplying loggers and advanced pressure management. We have found i2O to have the most accurate robust and reliable offerings. We look forward to working in partnership with i2O to deploy its solutions in our companies, to bring them to the wider China market and to collaborate more closely in the future.”
In July it was reported that the Chinese economy was growing at 6.9%, higher than forecast, with industrial output, retail spending and import/export growth all signalling a rebound.
