Science park leader and innovation champion to kick-start thirteenth annual business awards
The Test Valley Business Awards is pleased to announce that University of Southampton Science Park Chief Executive Peter Birkett will deliver the keynote speech at its launch event on March 10.
Now in its twelfth year, the Test Valley Business Awards is a prestigious platform, showcasing the best in local businesses and innovation. With categories such as the Innovation and Technology Award, Small Business of the Year and Employer of the Year, the ceremony recognises the small and medium sized enterprises who are making a difference, often under-the-radar.
In his ten years as Chief Executive of the University of Southampton Science Park, Peter Birkett has overseen a number of projects designed to unearth and nurture innovation and entrepreneurship in Hampshire. In 2012, he launched Catalyst, an in-house incubator that gives start-up businesses unhindered access to the resources and expertise required to accelerate to the next level.
Former Catalyst companies, many of which are still located at the Science Park, include off-grid wireless innovators, BluPoint, sustainability champions, Utonomy, and cell culturing pioneers SAL Scientific, a Test Valley New Business of the Year award winner in 2015.
Speaking of the Test Valley Business Awards, Peter Birkett said:
“I’m hugely proud to have been asked to speak at the launch. The Test Valley Business Awards offers an important and prestigious recognition to emerging businesses and technologies in our area. With its network of business leaders and influencers, it’s a huge opportunity for any company.
“Having spent ten years building an ecosystem for local companies to thrive, I know well the value of diverse networks and the benefit of prestigious awards.”
The launch of the Test Valley Business Awards 2017 will take place on 10th March at The White Horse, Romsey, between 12 & 2pm. Places are free but must be booked in advance. Please click here to confirm your spaces.
