About the Role

Data Scientists perform a vital role in their development team.  There'll be lots of opportunities to work with a variety of data in developing end-end full stack solutions that include acquisition, ingestion, cleansing, blending, detection, reasoning, decision support and visualisation.  You will be routinely using Big Data techniques, machine learning and statistical methods.

Their Data Scientists are using some of the latest technologies, with analytics primarily developed in Python and SQL, but additionally they use a range of query and programming languages as appropriate, including R, MATLAB, Hive and Pig. They also build tailored visualisations and use best in class tools such as Qlik and Tableau. They use the Scrum agile development process and cloud-based tools such as Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket/Git.

You will be working in a highly focussed multi-discipline team of developers, data scientists, solution architects, service delivery specialists and domain application experts.

Every team member is encouraged to actively engage with new technologies and keep abreast of the tools and technologies that will gives Tonic the competitive edge whilst ensuring an interesting and varied experience for their developers.

The Successful candidate will be

  • Experienced with at least some of the technologies they are working with and an aptitude to quickly learn new technologies or to fill knowledge gaps.
  • Application focussed, possibly with an engineering background.
  • Preferably experienced in the Scrum process and the type of on-line tools they are using to support their development.
  • A team player, able to work constructively in a highly focused team and also on their own initiative.
  • Flexible with an approach to work that aligns with their cultural values and client commitments.
