Science Park companies applauded

Two innovative Science Park businesses have won prestigious awards in recent weeks. 

nquiringminds has added to its plaudits when it was named Cyber Savvy Business of the Year 2016 in an event hosted by Entrepreneurs Unite at the Portsmouth Guildhall in September.

Specialising in smart cities, cyber security, data analytics and Internet of Things (IOT), nquiringminds is at the forefront of data security. To help realise the vision of smart secure interconnected cities, it has developed the Trusted Data Exchange, which combines IOT and big data streams

into a single secure, shareable database. They have also developed a sensor hub called InterLiNQ which plugs the security gap for IOT using advanced power efficient and processor efficient cryptography.  

CEO, Dr Nick Allott, said: “The challenge of security is that although everyone is talking about it, it usually takes events of a catastrophic nature before people start investing in it. When they do, they usually opt for solutions presented by major corporates, rather than looking to small companies which often have the best technology. In this context, awards which publicly recognise and validate expertise in cyber security, are invaluable.”

The Company has also secured a Newton Award to address the problem of grain spoilage in India. Working in collaboration with Indian Institute of Crop Processing Technology and Brunel Innovation Centre, it will use IOT sensors and artificial intelligence-based data analytics to optimise harvest yields for rural Indian farmers.   

Fresh Relevance scooped the Science Park-sponsored Innovation & Technology Award at the 12th annual Test Valley Business Awards, which celebrates the achievements of businesses across the region.
