Kelda Showers turbo technology attracts funding

Tue 19th April 2016

Science Park-based Kelda Showers has been awarded in excess of £2million in funding to accelerate the commercialisation of its disruptive shower technology. The investment will enable the Company to begin manufacturing its product later this year.

The Company’s radical technology adopts similar principles to a turbo jet engine to create ‘the most efficient and powerful eco shower’. Kelda’s patented showers use high-speed air to power the spray for an invigorating feel without the need for high water pressure, thus using considerably less water and energy. Tests have shown that its nozzles will save an average family of four over £720 on their annual household electricity bills, over £300 on gas bills and achieve water consumption reductions of over 61,000 litres – enough to fill 766 baths.

Founder Chris Jackson, who started work on the project in 2009, commented: “This funding boost is fantastic news which will enable us to expand our team four- or five-fold by the end of 2016, as well as invest in essential brand marketing.”

Kelda Showers has laboratory space in the Science Centre and is proudly committed to designing and manufacturing here in the UK. The Company is already winning awards including the Rushlight Energy Reduction Award 2015.
