SETsquared promotes open innovation
Tue 28th July 2015
The SETsquared Partnership team took part in a conference and showcase event in London in May to raise awareness of its Open Innovation Programme, which is expanding its reach into the corporate sector. The Programme is designed to help corporates and large organisations to access new technologies, solutions and innovations by brokering relationships with the technology start- ups, researchers, innovators and entrepreneurs in a cost and time effective manner. It is already working with organisations across a wide spectrum of industrial sectors including BAE Systems, Barclays Corporate Banking, Intel, Johnson & Johnson, Philips Innovation Services and Sony EU.
Science Park-based companies Cascoda, Ilika, Ikania, Nquiring Minds and Soft Iron amply demonstrated the talents that dynamic SMEs have to offer large corporates at the London event.
Dr Dave White, Senior Technology Advisor at Schlumberger, said: “Start-ups are an important source of technology and ideas for larger corporates. As someone whose role is to scout out new technologies, it’s been incredibly useful to hear succinct and polished pitches from such a wide variety of start-ups and have the opportunity to speak directly with them. I’ve already seen some technologies here today that I can see could potentially have applications in Schlumberger.”
