Thu 7th May 2015
The University of Southampton Science Park was once again proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the Test Valley Business Awards, which took place on 21st April at The Lights in Andover. The South’s leading science and technology hub sponsored the Innovation & Technology Award category for the seventh year as part of it’s commitment to supporting local companies that are passionate about embracing new ideas to bring new products and services to market.
Award judges were keen to identify and champion businesses in the Test Valley region which are achieving commercial success through the application of new technologies, by adopting an innovative approach to marketing, management or product development. Andover company S&S Windings scooped this year’s award, with Science Park-based companies 1st Touch and Nine23 also being named as finalists.
Peter Birkett, CEO of Southampton Science Park, commented: "The Innovation and Technology Award celebrates the companies in the region that demonstrate how innovation and determination lead to business success and we’re delighted to support this initiative. It is always very satisfying to see how our local businesses are helping to grow the region’s economy in so many ways. I believe that supporting and nurturing fresh ideas will continue to put Test Valley’s businesses in the spotlight.”
The 11th Test Valley Business Awards celebrations were a night to remember, with guest of honour, the near-legendary TV and radio host Nicholas Parsons CBE, amusing the audience of almost 200 with an energetic after dinner speech including anecdotes about Test Valley and his career in the entertainment industry. Another Science Park based business and Catalyst Centre graduate, SAL Scientific, won the prestigious New Business of the Year Award at the event.
