MPs on STEM

Fri 10th April 2015

Join the University of Southampton Science Park, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and STEM businesses in the region at our MPs on STEM event.

On Friday 10th of April between 4pm and 6pm businesses and entrepreneurs in the region will have the chance to ask local parliamentary candidates what they’ll be doing for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) businesses if they’re elected in May 2015.

The UK is the world’s sixth largest manufacturer, with engineering turnover at around £800 billion per year, and whilst the UK makes up only 1% of the world’s population, we produce 10% of the world’s top scientific research, and businesses in this space contribute a vast amount to the region's economy. From sustainability to engineering, we put your questions to the people responsible for putting your views forward in parliament!

Confirmed attendees:

Caroline Nokes, Conservative MP for Romsey and Southampton North
Rowenna Davis, Labour Candidate for Southampton Itchen
Mike Thornton, Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh
Ian Callaghan, Green Party Candidate for Romsey and Southampton North
Ben Nicholls, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Romsey and Southampton North
