Get on your bike!!

Fri 20th June 2014

As Bike Week draws to a close, we thought we'd highlight some of the great biking adventures our tenants have been getting involved in!

Last weekend Nine23 hosted a Hero Ride event in aid of the charity Help for Heroes. Many of the Nine23 staff are ex-military or have links to the military, and hold the charity close to their hearts. Starting here at Southampton Science Park, seven members of staff cycled the 105 miles to Blackheath to join 2,000 other riders from around the country to cycle into central London. Their ride took two days, and included a lung-busting ascent of the iconic Box Hill. This monumental effort saw the team raise £4,480 for Help for Heroes. You can still donate at:

Two Science Park tenants, Colva Ltd and NETSCC, and the Science Park management team took part in the 'My Journey Commuter Challenge' in May. The challenge was created with the aim of reducing the carbon footprint of businesses in the region. In the month long challenge, over 1,650 people took part with businesses across Hampshire logging their employees journeys to see who could make the biggest reduction based on their size of business. In just one month, businesses taking part logged an impressive 313,373 miles travelled and a saving of £45,870 on regular commutes. Colva Ltd and NETSCC came second and third respectively in their categories, congratulations to them both!

Alan Bernardi, Managing Director of Airship is also taking part in a challenge for charity next week, cycling over 300 miles in just four days! Starting on the outskirts of London, Alan will be cycling to the Eiffel Tower in Paris in aid of The U Foundation, a charity supporting children in Zambia. He has almost reached his £2,000 sponsorship goal, and you can still donate here:

To celebrate Bike Week, we also have a special offer for tenants on lockable bike racks, take a look at the details on the Tenants’ Portal:
