The Science Park is owned by the University of Southampton and the two organisations enjoy close links, giving tenant companies access to some of the UK’s leading scientific expertise. About 20% of the companies on the Park originated from the University, either as spinouts or as the brain-child of individual academic staff. This includes Science Park-based companies Perpetuum and Ilika, which have been named in The Guardian’s clean tech top 100 of ‘Europe’s Hottest Clean Technology Companies’. The Park also enables companies to benefit from opportunities for graduate and postgraduate placements.
